1)The new horses maxi and mini have just arrived to Dallas. Mary Chipperfield will help Mario Sandro in the training of these animals. It is likely that these animals will be displayed during this Xmas show.

1)The Xmas show of Oporto coliseum opens tonight. The enterprise brought to Portugal the elephant of Joy Gartners,Color do Brasil (capoeira), Flying Souza (voadores), Marianis and Kikos, irini (hula-hoop), cats and pigeons, Tomas (prapeze), Sandra (aerial tissues).
2)Guimaraes will have a Xmas circus (Soledad Cardinali):15 and 16th december.

Victor Hugo bought a group of baby tigers, (some of them are white). After being trained they will be part of a new act.
The clowns Charles bros are working for Chen during the Xmas season.
The following performers will be part of the 29th edition of Monte-Carlo festival: Gaspar (portugal-rola-rola), Liazeed (maroco-hand balance), Pyongynag (flyers) and Guanghzou (diabolo/contorsion).

There are rumors that Ruben will be in Oporto for Xmas. For now we can assure that Americano will join Soledad and Oporto coliseum in Oporto. Adélio Roque hired new performers: quadrante gymnasts.

C´esar Jr obtained an huge sucess in Chen opening. Besides this clown you can find perch balance, jugglers, swing board acrobats, comic acrobats. This year there will be no tigers performance. We visited its tents this weekend and took a picture. As you can see Chen cares about the audience comfort: there are upholstered chairs.  
Dallas performance at Cachaça Disco last friday went very well. Take a look at the advertising voucher.
Besides Tabares and Tito Lester, victor Hugo brought to portugal parrots and sea lions act.

The Xmas season is about to begin (by the way, we have created a Xmas page with many interesting info). Circus casts weren't released yet, but we can advance that:
1)Soledad will debut tonight at 9.30 pm in Oporto, presenting an international cast: tigers, bears, flyers (from Mexico), contorsion and acrobats (from russia). Very nice advertising posters.
2)Dallas will have  2 units: one in Faro (from 4/11) and another will tour through Algarve (read details on our Xmas page)
3)Tabares (flyers, winners of the golden clown in the 28th Monte-Carlo festival) and Tito Lester will be once again in Victor Hugo Cardinali.
4)Chen will debut tomorrow in Lisbon. There will be  a swing board acrobat troup, comic act and many animal species.

1)Mundial is in Gaia. It will debut next 4/12. For now you can only see trucks on the yard!  At Soledad, some more details and everything will be ready for the great opening at Parque da Cidade (Matosinhos). The cast isn't defined as some performers haven't arrived yet. Pavel's bears (who worked for soledad last season) won the 3 rd prize at S. paul les dax festival.

Xmas circus shows are comming to towns. Dallas are about to receive some more surprises (soon, you will know what we are talking about- its great debut will be on 4/12 in Faro). Chen will open on 26/12, Victor Hugo on 30/12, Roberto on 1/12 (Alg´es), Atlas will have a group of flyers from Florida-USA. Gulliver has just arrived to merito for Xmas season. Soledad will be in Parque da Cidade from 26 November (tigers, beras, flyers...).

D. Aida Muñoz left us at the age of 77. She was married to Filipe Cardinali and mother of Frederico (clown in the spanish Italiano) and Aida (Chicha, working at Circolândia). She has worked in the most important european circuses, like Pinder, Nock; D'Hiver Bouglione, Bouglione... Her funeral will take place today in her home town. 1)Besides the cast announced on 15 th november, the 29 th edition of monte-carlo festival, will conciliate the traditional and modern circus schools. The comite selected the following performers: Laura Miller (UK), Rokashov (RUS), Iroshinov (UKR) and KGB (clowns-RUS/GER).
2)Chen will debut in Lisbon next 27 th November; Dallas great opening  will take place in Faro next 4 th December.
3)Our friend and contributor Maximo Luftman is performing in Univerersal Renz with César Jr. (after being in Portugal in Dallas-read program 2004) till next 21/11. These known performers will return to Portugal (Xmas matines). César Jr will be part of Chen Xmas cast.

The circo de Portugal finished its spanish tournee last weekend at Tui.

2)Indian and Brasil have broken up.
3)Embell Riva will finish its spanish tour (which included some portuguese cities) next 14/11. Bellucci bros. will start the italian one at Torino. Against our expectation and sources of this enterprise (3 months ago) there won't be any national tour.
4)Tomás da Silva will return to circus skies (trapeze) at Xmas (Oporto Coliseum). There will be some surprises: pigeons and cats, monocycle...
5)The 29 th Monte-Carlo Festival cast will include King Charles (basketball players), Velez (high whire), Pereznovy, Toto Chabry (clown)

1)Yesterday we watched on tv (Sic) a report about Peter Fratini in Dallas. He is an amazing tamer: he entered the cage without any stick and stood up among 4 lions without any problem, as if he was one of them. He is also known as Sandokan and is from Switzerland. He has been in Portugal teaching some animals of Victor Hugo and Dallas since August. The audience had the chance to watch as circus animals are treated.
2)Victor Hugo is packing! He will be in Madeira for 2 months. He'll return at Xmas time.

1) From Spain, Francisco Medrano told us that the portuguese performers Cadimas (aerial bambu) are in Holiday circus.
2) Chen presents an international company: Brasil, Moldavia, Roumain. Clowns are national (Charles bros.)
3) Dallas is renwing its material: Traillers have new pictures, it has wc facilities... Its show is very nice. We'll publish it in October. Untill then, Know that it finishes with My Way, cats and dogs on low whire...

»»We were surprised by the presence of a circus in the east of the country during August. In fact, império cardinali will be at Guarda from 39/7 to 2/8.
»»Be wise: subscribe the clown workshop by Gaulier. Por Trás do Azul assures that this will be the only chance to do this (untill 5th August) and it will worth the ammount of money (410 euros) we'll spend.  
»»According to the enterprise, Embell Riva should be in Andalucia's coast for August.

There will be a clown workshop by the french Philippe Gaulier, from 23 to 27 August 2004 (10.00-16.00h) at Capela do museu da Marioneta (Lisbon-Portugal). There will be fewer circuses in Algarve than usual. For now, only 3 companies will present their shows: Brasil+Indian (Dallas 2), Dallas and Chen. Atlas won't be in Albufeira, like previous years. The majority of national circuses will be in the North/center of Portugal.  Tradition isn't the way it used to be!

The Amar circus (France) celebrates its 80 th anniversary. To commemorate this event, the enterprise will create a circus miniature, including animals, traillers, tent and artists. It is likely that it will be commercialized in portugal from the end of 2004. We will wait and see!

Cláudio Torralvo is ready for the summer season. Next weekeend he will be at Figueira da Foz.

It´s summer time! Some circuses are on advanced vacations, preparing material and summer tournée. For example, Cláudio circus will reopen in July as well as Ruben. This one, has returned from Azores 1 month ago. The crocodile act is no longer in yhis circus.

Today, Embell Riva says goodbye to Portugal and returns to Spain: next week-end at Ciudad Rodrigo (Salamanca). The enterprise intends to come back to portugal in 2005. Meanwhyle, You can still visit this circus at Bragança: 17.30 and 21.45h.l

After being in Galicia (Spain), the italian Embell Riva comes to Portugal. It will be at Bragança from 16 til 20/6 (16-18-9.30 pm; 19 and 20-15.00 and 17.30). The stars of the company are the rino Kunta (by Mario Bellucci) and Bellucci Jr (flyers). Sérgio Gottani is on the road with his show Pinnochio. It is an humble production (6 performers): Lara (vertical rope), Pinnochio's story, Sérgio Gottani (dancing water), maxi and mini, hula-hoop, aerial quadrante, Pinnochio (trampolin). For the sadness of the children (not only!) there were no clowns!

The flames consumed Soledad Cardinali's tent and a truck. Despite of the accident, the show is still on the road. This weekend, in Carregado. As far as we know besides all the atractions, The russian bear show worths a visit.

For the first time in many years, Victor Hugo Cardinali won't have flyers (Tabares are now in Ringling-your town unit) for the 2004 season. Despite of this, Michelle and Gracy (cirque du Solei) remain in the tour show. Many new performers: Gulliver (rola-rola), Jess Lester (clown), Fausto (mad car) and after many years away from the ring Avelinos (high-wire). Nice show for 2004 season!

In Portugal many yards (where circuses have presented their shows for many years) are disappearing. The last one was largo Zeca Afonso (Setúbal) which will be remodeled. We are not agaisnt the project, but the lack of solutions to this problem. We can't expect people to go to circuses if they are placed far away form the cities...

Imperio Cardinali joined many circus arts into a single show: aerial acts (russian ring, vertical rope), whire, trampolin, jugglers, magic... Despite of the reduced number of artists and employees, the show runs on a good rythm. Isabel Garcia introduces the acts, proving her great skills as an announcer (one of the few women announcers).

During the season opening, many circuses are still looking for artists. Atlas hired recently the roumain equilibrists Milenium (in 2003 in Circolandia), Chicha is in Circolandia. Mario Mariani went to France and bought a new hippo for Mundial. Maxymova bear show is in Greece as well as Michael (giant wheel).

On 30 th of January, a bear hurt his tamer on his back and leg. The man had to be admited at the local hospital for 3 days. The accident took place during the evening show. As far as we know he is ok and has started working again.

The portuguese Atlas reorganized a new program: besides the animals, we can admire jugglers, rola-rola, aerial quadrante, hula-hoop, aerial strips... We will soon publish this program.

2004 brought bad news to Dallas: 2 lions and 1 tiger died during last week. The lions were very old; the tiger was mario Sandro favourite (in the rimg he hugged the animal). Meanwhyle a new act is being prepared.
